What’s happening with the plastic?
As some people may have noticed we have been trialling a ‘half-wrap’ plastic for rolled home delivery papers. We have undertaken this test in conjunction with The ANF, The Advertiser and Adwrap Solutions in selected areas within our territories.
The plastic being tested is a thinner gauge and about half the width of our normal wrap meaning that a rolled paper is held together with a band in the centre rather than being completely wrapped. Full wrap (at the thinner gauge still) will be used for mornings when there has been forecast a chance of rain.
The main idea driving the test is to help the industry reduce the amount of plastic waste wrapping papers produces. Liberal MP Vickie Chapman even addressed the House of Assembly on this issue with this speech. It is estimated that the plastic we are testing if adopted would save 65 tonnes of landfill a year. |
